Skin Care Trends of 2025 – 6 Predictions from Celebrity Beauticians

While social media (especially TikTok) is a great tool for spotting trends, they come and go quickly, hence the name “trends.” I prefer to rely on other sources, such as what I hear from skin care labs and trusted chemists, and all the conferences I attended last year where the best and brightest skin care professionals gathered to share information.

Here are six major skin care trends I predict will emerge in 2025, based on what I’m seeing. While there are some new innovations, everything always comes back to basics. Keeps skin balanced, healthy and nourished.

Maintenance Trend #1: Home Maintenance Equipment

Gone are the days when only beauticians like me could deliver professional results. A lot of technology is now available for home use, which I think is very, very exciting. After all, I see clients for 90 minutes, and while we can achieve a lot, being able to recommend an at-home care device for them to maintain results will only enhance their skin care goals.

Of course, there are a lot of questionable at-home skin care devices out there, so you have to do your research. I highly recommend the TheraFace Anti-Swelling Stick. I’ve used a similar device on clients for years and got very frustrated when they stopped using it, so I’m excited to see it come to the market. I love its anti-puffing properties as well as the lymphatic drainage massage on my face. (The Rapid Response Detox Mask glides on nicely when applied before using the device.)

I featured the TheraFace, one of the devices I use on my client, singer Sabrina Carpenter, in this video I posted on Instagram and it went viral! (I also mentioned my high-frequency device, which is proven to always work well on acne breakouts.)

I’m also a big fan of NuFace (aka microcurrent). It is used to sculpt facial features, such as more prominent cheekbones, by building muscles. As mentioned in this article, I have been using NuFace for many years and I also use similar technology on my body during exercise. Simply put, muscles become weaker as we age, so it’s important to strengthen them. I love using this in my nightly routine.

Skin Care Trend #2: Electrolytes – The ultimate hydration for thirsty skin cells

I like the concept of utilizing things that are used internally and externally. By 2025, the demand for skin electrolytes will be huge.

Let’s talk about moisturizing. The reality is, all skin types need water – not all skin types need oil. This is the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin. Skin cells, like fish, need water to survive, so a bigger focus in 2025 will be more innovation in skin care ingredients that allow skin to retain the moisture it desperately needs to stay healthy and, of course, oh so hydrated.

One important skin care ingredient you’ll see in 2025 is electrolytes. They contain essential minerals such as sodium, calcium and potassium. They’ve always been a mainstay in sports drinks, but now they’re making their way into popular products.

The main benefit of using electrolytes in skin care is hydration. Water is good for your skin, but dry skin (which tends to worsen with age) has a hard time retaining it. Without enough oils to lock in moisture, the water in serums and moisturizers often evaporates quickly. Electrolytes work by using electrical charges to draw water into deeper layers of skin, preventing evaporation. They also balance moisture levels, keeping skin plump, fresh, and hydrated without overloading it.

I’m working on a skin care formula that contains electrolytes and the results are truly incredible for delivering moisture to thirsty skin cells. stay tuned!

Skincare Trend #3: A simpler, multi-tasking skincare routine

Skincare is a huge industry and it shows no signs of slowing down, but I have to say, the ten-step routine has gotten a little out of control. For example, using multiple serums layered on top of each other is not only time-consuming and costly, but also not as effective.

Realistically, your skin can only absorb so much, so I insist you only use one serum at a time. Additionally, this approach not only saves time and money but also reduces the risk of skin irritation from too many active ingredients.

I find that people are exhausted from having to use so many products, so people are looking for a simpler routine that only uses a few products. The good news is that many products can perform multiple tasks.

For example, why use sunscreen and a separate moisturizer? How about finding someone who can do both? My Weightless Protection SPF 30 does exactly that. Or buy a mask that lasts you overnight? Yes, this is my award-winning off-day mask.

A four-step routine to use in the morning and evening includes:

  • Wash with mild detergent (always follow my golden minute rule)
  • Then use toner (here are five benefits of toner)
  • Serum (always use vitamin C during the day, and at night, you can alternate your serum with retinol, a leave-on acid exfoliator, or a product that hydrates and nourishes)
  • Moisturizer (always use sunscreen during the day and choose a moisturizer that best suits your skin type at night)

Morning skin care routine

For extra points, use a lightweight eye gel or nourishing cream morning and night, followed by a weekly at-home facial.

These steps are proven to maintain the health and integrity of your skin. Quality over quantity. always.

Skin Care Trend #4: Exosomes—A Biotech Skin Care Ingredient

At the Skin Care Science Summit (which I co-chaired the Dermatology Conference), there was a lot of discussion about the term “biotech ingredients” and how they will play a vital role in the future of skin care. Specifically, there is a lot of discussion surrounding the use of exosomes for skin care treatments.

Exosomes are derived from stem cells, the most common sources being adipose stem cells and umbilical cord stem cells, although there are other types. They are tiny vesicles produced naturally by cells that serve as messengers that facilitate cell communication and regeneration. The purpose of these is to rejuvenate the skin to repair itself, as they harness the body’s own cellular processes to enhance skin health.

Since cosmetic procedures such as radiofrequency microneedling and laser treatments are so popular for stimulating cell repair (by deliberately damaging the skin’s outer layer), it is thought that when exosomes are applied topically after these procedures, they can help support the repair process. , which in turn intensifies the treatment to improve results – and reduce any redness and swelling that occurs.

We will see science continue to advance and find ways to keep skin looking younger and living longer.

Maintenance Trend #5: Make Maintenance Fun

Who said maintenance has to be so serious? TikTok skincare trends continue to show us that people love having fun with their skincare routines and filming content about them. (Yes, that’s where all those 10-step routines come in!) Especially with the rise of at-home skin care devices (LEDs being a big trend), people are pairing their devices with masks, serums, and oils, to achieve better results.

One way to play with it (without worrying about damaging your skin) is toner ice cubes. There’s no rule saying toners have to be used in liquid form, so what about freezing them to provide extra skin benefits like de-puffing? Hydrating toner is perfect for this purpose.

Skincare Trend #6: Turn your passion for skincare into a career – become an esthetician!

The Rise of the Esthetician. Yes, it’s happening in a big way. Actually, lure Call cosmetology the new “IT” profession. When I started in 1988, there were only a handful of us. Fast forward to 2025, and more and more people are turning their passion into a career. As the saying goes, “Find something you’re passionate about and find a way to make a living doing it.”

I absolutely love seeing our profession being brought to the forefront and skin care enthusiasts are branching out into all areas of skin care – sales trainers, supporting dermatologist practices, instructors and more, and of course, our own solo practices . We love improving lives through skincare and it’s incredible to see so many people entering this amazing profession.

Skin Care Trends 2025 – It’s going to be a great year for your skin!

While there are always a lot of exciting things coming, there are some trends for 2025 that are particularly exciting to me.

But in the end I want to say this: Although there seems to be a lot of innovation in the field of skin care products, the basic principles will always stand the test of time.

  • Wash off your makeup at night.
  • Wear sunscreen 365 days a year, even indoors because UV rays shine through windows.
  • Maintain a consistent morning and evening routine.
  • Use quality products.
  • Understand your unique skin needs and always use products that are appropriate for your skin type.
  • Always follow Renee’s path.
