Mistakes will happen. You could argue they’re just human results, but as we’ve clearly seen over the past year, artificial intelligence can make a lot of mistakes. That’s one reason we like apps that give us ample opportunity to make corrections, like the open source HeliBoard keyboard and its convenient undo button. But if you don’t want to go the third-party route with your Android keyboard, you’re in luck, because Google’s own Gboard is using a very similar undo tool.

Google has been considering adding an undo button to Gboard for some time. Developments on the button were first spotted 18 months ago, but so far there hasn’t been any way to try it out for yourself. According to reports, although it is still missing from the main Gboard version, testers signed up for the Google Beta program have begun to notice the undo button appearing in the new 14.9.06.x version. 9 to 5 google.

Even for beta testers, this is still not widely available, and Google seems to be taking its time to evaluate the tool with a smaller sample size. Users with access will be able to select a new undo option in Gboard’s drag customization screen, allowing you to add an undo button in a row that can include options like translate and insert emojis.

Once you tap the undo button’s back arrow, Gboard will undo your last change and display separate Undo and Redo controls, allowing you to move back and forth through your edits until you have the text where you want it Location. 9 to 5 google What was observed in testing is that while the keyboard keeps track of this edit history even if you close it in the app and restore it later, it appears to be cleared once you exit the app you entered the text into.
