long story short
- Google Tasks will start adding dates to completed tasks.
- You’ll start to see the number of tasks in a specific checklist next to the checklist name at the top of the page.
- You can now sort tasks alphabetically and open tasks by clicking on the arrows.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could look at Google Tasks and know when certain tasks were completed? Or be able to sort tasks alphabetically? Google seems to be working on adding these improvements and more features to the app.

While investigating the Google Tasks app (version 2025.01.06.712346148.0-release), we discovered some handy changes. One of these changes will add a date next to all completed tasks.
You’ll notice in the left screenshot above that the date appears right below the task name in the Completed section. The same is true when you open a task, which can be seen in the screenshot on the right. You can also see the number of tasks in a specific checklist next to the checklist name at the top.

Another improvement gives you a new way to open tasks. In the screenshot above, you can see that each list has an arrow surrounded by a circle to the right. You won’t find these icons in the current version of Google Tasks. Clicking on the arrow will take you directly to the page for that task.

The last thing we discovered is the new option for sorting tasks. There is now an option called “Titles”, clicking on it will organize your tasks in alphabetical order.
