A UI 7 beta discovery could shed light on Samsung’s foldable device next year

what you need to know
- A tipster claims to have discovered multiple models related to Samsung’s future foldable devices in the One UI 7 beta.
- Judging from the listing, it looks like Samsung is building the next generation Flip 7 and Fold 7, as well as another Fold special edition.
- The rumored “Flip FE” is apparently missing; however, a recent database discovery details its model number.
As Samsung moves forward with its One UI 7 beta, its code may provide clues about the company’s overall foldable plans.
According to reports, AssembleDebug (an Android authority)’s teardown of the beta so far includes a model list. According to the tipster, an internal list of names hints at the future of Samsung’s foldable devices, starting with the Galaxy Z Fold, a book-style device. The post states that the model number provided in the beta version is SM-F968, which is said to be the “successor” of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
Speaking of new foldable devices, the publication said it found no signs of a “Galaxy Z Flip FE”. The clamshell has been rumored for months; however, sources say the latest software beta does not include its potential model number.
Included in the beta are apparent models of Samsung’s next wave of Galaxy Z Flip and Fold devices. The upcoming phone models are said to be SM-F751 and SM-F966. Considering the number of models has “increased by 10,” which is “Samsung tradition,” the post is relatively confident these involve the next generation of foldable devices.
Oddly, the One UI 7 beta is missing the rumored Flip FE model, but a recent GSMA database discovery gives us more information. The device, which is internally coded SM-F761B, was recently spotted and is believed to be the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Flip FE. The device is expected to arrive in 2025 as a cheaper alternative to the standard flagship clamshell model.
What’s more, a November rumor claimed the device Can It will likely be released alongside the Flip 7 and Fold 7 in mid-2025. The Galaxy S24 FE comes with the same chip.
This isn’t the only news about Samsung’s foldable devices, with reports last week that the company intends to cut shipments in 2025. Compared with Flip 5/Fold 5, Samsung’s Flip 6/Fold 6 performed mediocrely and underperformed. There are rumors that Korean OEMs may reserve about 5 million foldable devices next year, of which the Flip 7 accounts for about 3 million units.
For context, the company’s Flip 5 and Fold 5 broke records with 1.02 million pre-orders in South Korea. Fast forward to 2024, and that number drops to 910,000.
On the other hand, the second One UI 7 beta for the S24 series was launched before Christmas. It brings a ton of bug and glitch fixes while others await its stable release. The software is based on Android 15 and is expected to be released at or near the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in January.
