Fresh winter wreaths and swags of cherries

Happy Monday GPO players!

We can’t get through the holidays without checking out Cherry Ong’s incredible handmade garlands and decorations. She’s shared many amazing designs over the years (garland making with cherries, winter wreath making, holiday decorations from the garden, winter wreaths and arrangements, and more), but with every submission, she reveals a new batch, An inspiring design portfolio. Today we take a look at the wreaths and baubles Cherry made last year for her garden and as gifts. Simple winter wreath using only three materialsSimple is best. The product requires just three ingredients: golden bells from IKEA, magnolia branches and eucalyptus, stuffed into a 22-inch-diameter pre-made Fraser Mars ring.

  • Silver Dollar Eucalyptus (Gray Eucalyptuszones 8-11)

Close up of shiny boots ornament on wreathThere is also a close-up of the beautiful cowboy boot ornament on the wreath. I love these boots, not only are they sparkly and eye-catching, but they are so Christmassy!

  • Abundant beauty berries (harvested)
  • privet (privet and cvs., zones 5-8) berries (collected)
  • seeded eucalyptus
  • Silverbell eucalyptus pods
  • white branches

Garland of red berries and magnolia leavesNow it’s the turn of the red garland. This is a product that features Hypericum berries.

raw material:

  • Use discarded Christmas branches mixed with fir and make the base from scratch – 28-inch diameter wreath
  • magnolia branches
  • Hypericum berries, red, leaves removed
  • Norway spruce (spruceZones 2–7) Pine cones, picked
  • seeded eucalyptus

Winter gift of red and green berriesAs mentioned above, Cherry has some beautiful swags as well as a wide variety of garlands. This is the perfect companion to the red wreath above.

Small swag for decoration on plain brown bagI absolutely love these mini versions that Cherry made! I’m not sure if this is the first time she’s made them or the first time I’ve seen them, but they are a great way to decorate any holiday gift.

Winter kissing ball decoration hanging on the tree outsideLast but not least, I thought this was a fun kissing ball with a prosecco garnish hanging from the bottom. I use the Japanese Magic Marlot skimmia (honey locustMagic Marlott, zones 6-9) from the garden.

Thank you so much for sharing your incredible creation again, Cherry! With any wreath or swag I could find in the store, your design would be easy to knock off. One of these years I will take time out to draw inspiration from you and make some wreaths of my own.
