Long-lasting space MMO Elite Dangerous is cheap on Steam, but it won’t last long

elite danger sets itself apart through its vast and enduring universe. Outlander has countless pre-written stories, Outlander challenges you to search for cracks in the solar system, No Man’s Sky is all about survival, and Elite Danger puts all the power in your hands. This sci-fi universe can morph and change because of your (or anyone else’s) decisions, and ten years from now it will only get bigger. So if you want to try Elite Dangerous, it’s the cheapest game on Steam right now.
Elite Dangerous may be a decade old, but that shouldn’t stop you from giving this massive game a try. Combining elements of MMOs, FPSs and space simulators, your mission is to explore the 1:1 galaxy and impact the eternal universe as you see fit. There are plenty of factions to join, quests to complete, and plenty of money to make if you know where to look.
Just a few months ago, Elite Danger went through quite the shake-up with the Advantage update. This introduces Powerplay 2.0, a system that complicates the relationships and actions of various factions vying for power among the stars. You can control various parts of the galaxy as you see fit, but doing so sets you up with a goal. Everything in Powerplay 2.0 is reactive, making Elite Dangerous’ approximation of our universe more dynamic than ever before.
It’s now 2025, and Frontier Developments has some big plans for the next decade of the game. System colonization is the focus of this year’s first major update, which will give you more control over exploration and decision-making. You’ll travel across the galaxy, claim your own star systems, build space facilities, and expand humanity’s reach farther and farther.
If you’re worried that you’ve fallen behind other players in the game, don’t worry, because it turns out that 99% of the Elite Dangerous universe has yet to be explored. So whether you join alone or play with friends, you won’t run out of space in 2025 and beyond.
Elite Dangerous is 75% off on Steam until Thursday 9 January, so expect to pay just $4.99 / £3.74 before then. You can also save 65% by purchasing the deluxe version of the game. Elite danger is here.
We’ve got you covered with more than just Elite Dangerous, the best simulation and multiplayer games you need to add to your ever-growing to-do list.
