Today’s foldable smartphones are still in their infancy, but the Game Boy Advance is still impressing nearly 22 years after its release. Now, the Miyoo Flip ($89.99 at Amazon) takes the clamshell form factor to the next level and updates it for the modern era.

The Miyoo Flip was first revealed back in 2023, but we finally get the full picture. In addition to a very portable design, it is also equipped with a 4:3, 3.5-inch 640×480 LCD display. That’s slightly taller than the 3:4 display on the original Game Boy Advance hardware, but it’s great for emulating consoles like the PS1, Dreamcast, and N64, which the cheap RockChip RK3566 chipset is more than capable of handling.

It also features two analog sticks on the front, four triggers, a microSD card slot, and an HDMI output port on the back. The layout of the joysticks may not be the most comfortable for long gaming sessions, but they at least allow for more games to be played on the device.

Similar clamshell gaming handhelds like the ANBERNIC RG35XX SP have proven extremely popular, and Miyoo has built a very loyal fan base for its previous products like the Miyoo Mini and Miyoo Mini Plus ($79.99 at Amazon). According to Retro Game Corps on YouTube, the device has been sent to custom firmware developers, so there should be additional software options coming soon to make the experience even better.

The Miyoo Flip is now available for pre-order on Amazon and AliExpress for $89.99. It’s available in four different colors and ships on January 5th, so you won’t have to wait long to hit the nostalgia trail.
