New Morrowind mod adds a DLC-sized portion of Oblivion with over 160 missions

The Elder Scrolls 6 may still be years away, and the wait for Bethesda’s next fantasy role-playing game isn’t getting any easier. We’re lucky that the modding community behind The Elder Scrolls games, especially Skyrim, is very strong. Multiple times each year we receive mods ranging from small mechanical changes to huge DLC-sized experiences. I’m happy to tell you that today’s new creation is the latter, as it adds a frankly ridiculous amount of material Morrowind.

Abecean Shores is the first version of Project Cyrodiil, a plan to add parts of the land from The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion to Morrowind through mods. If this sounds like a daunting task for an RPG, that’s because it is. The Cyrodiil expansion pack for Morrowind, developed by the Project Tamriel team, is another title that left me in awe.

Now that the first part of Cyrodiil’s plan is out in Abecean Shores, you can start exploring parts of Oblivion in the Morrowind game. You’ll find the port city of Anvil, memorable new characters, handcrafted interiors, and even tons of quests to complete. So if the wait for The Elder Scrolls 6’s release date feels like a never-ending one, now is the perfect time to kill it.

“Like Tamriel Rebuilt and Skyrim: Home of the Nords, Project Cyrodiil is a fully realized, fully playable Morrowind fan-made expansion,” writes the Project Tamriel team road. “Players can travel to Cyrodiil at any level and at any stage of their character’s journey. As with the original game, our mission content is designed to maximize role play and choice and immerse players in the world and the culture of its people.

Abecean Shoes contains over 160 different missions, divided into miscellaneous activities and faction quest lines. You’ll encounter thieves’ guilds, warriors’ guilds, mages’ guilds, and even Imperial Legions. There are also new factions like Mobile Priests and even the Anvil Kingdom itself, adding some extra color to your memories of playing Annihilation.

I’ve been looking for a DLC-sized Skyrim title to bring you, but Project Cyrodiil has shown that even two decades later, Morrowind is still worth revisiting.

Project Cyrodiil: Abecean Shores is now available on Nexus Mods. Before downloading the mod, I would check the installation information section because Morrowind also requires some other mods.

Project Tamriel isn’t the only team working on DLC-scale mods for Morrowind. Tamriel Rebuilt is a sister development to Project Tamriel that aims to add the entire continent of Morrowind to the game through new quests and activities. If you want to waste even more time in the game, the 2023 Tamriel Reconstruction Andalam update is one of the largest yet, containing over 600 missions.

If you want to push things a little further, we’ve also got all the best Skyrim mods to enhance Bethesda’s latest entry in the Elder Scrolls series. Otherwise, make sure you check out all the best games out there, like Skyrim.
