One of Greece’s most popular islands to open JW Marriott resort this year

Even though it’s early January, it’s never too early to start craving summer. This August, Marriott Bonvoy loyalists and those who just want to vacation in Greece can look forward to the first JW Marriott resort on Crete.
The JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa is now accepting bookings for accommodation starting from August 1, 2025, and is located on Marati Beach near the city of Chania. The nearest airports are nearby Chania Airport (CHQ), which mainly serves domestic flights, and Crete’s main international airport, Heraklion International Airport (HER), about two hours’ drive away.
Spanning over 100 acres, the new resort will feature 160 rooms, suites and villas, designed to look and feel modern and elegant, interwoven with layers of “authentic Cretan heritage”. Guests staying in suites and villas can enjoy a private pool or jacuzzi.
Dining facilities at the JW Marriott Hotel Crete include an open-air Cretan beachfront restaurant, an upscale seafood restaurant, an Italian restaurant for dinner, a buffet and an all-day Mediterranean a la carte restaurant, as well as a poolside bar and main bar.
Throughout the resort, you can enjoy a wide range of activities, including lounging around the multiple swimming pools or sunbathing on Maratha Beach, heading to the Anoseas Spa for a massage or other treatment and soaking up the beauty of Greece.
Stelios Koutsivitis, president of Swot Hospitality, the company that operates the hotel, said: “The opening of the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa will redefine the luxury hospitality industry in the Mediterranean and will also solidify Greece’s appeal as a luxury brand and international wealthy destination. status of the land.
