Samsung Good Lock goes global with the new design of One UI 7

what you need to know
- Samsung is redesigning Good Lock, the company’s first-party launcher known for bringing advanced features to Galaxy phones with One UI 7.
- For the first time, the app will be available in “all countries” and on the Google Play store.
- Some features are being enhanced, such as Home Up, which now works with One UI Home without launching the app.
Good Lock, the first-party Samsung launcher popular with enthusiasts, is being redesigned and expanded with One UI 7. It will arrive with the release of One UI 7.
It’s worth noting that Samsung is making Good Lock more widely available. The app, which was previously exclusive to the Galaxy Store, can be downloaded from the Google Play Store starting with One UI 7.
Good Lock is a popular choice among Samsung foldable phone users. Specifically, first-party launchers are the only official way to use any app on the cover screen of the Galaxy Z Flip smartphone. This year’s revision of Good Lock will include some major changes that will improve the launcher UI not only for foldable phones, but also for regular Samsung phones.
“The overall composition of the main application has been changed for the convenience of the user interface,” the post explains. Samsung says some of the features it will launch with One UI 7 include better search and filtering capabilities, easier widget management, and the added Good Lock feature.
This is great news for fans of Home Up. The post calls Home Up “one of the biggest changes to the app this year,” starting with letting users use Home Up on One UI Home without running the Home Up app.
Additionally, users will be able to place icons anywhere on the home screen without having to follow a strict grid. Other changes include gesture animation customization, folder customization, edge panel customization, and taskbar customization. This was previously rumored to happen following a leak in October 2024.
Finally, the post reminds Good Lock fans that the feature that is popular among enthusiasts may become a standard feature of One UI in the future.
“Please use the Good Lock app to show changes big and small and give us your input so we can continue to develop them based on that input,” the post explains. “Features that receive a good response will continue to be incorporated into One UI feature, so please continue to provide us with feedback in the future.”
While the One UI 7 beta is already available for the Galaxy S24 series, the updated Good Lock app won’t be available for at least a few more weeks.
