Samsung launched the Galaxy Fit 3 in most major regions early last year, but it didn’t launch it in the U.S. despite selling the Fit 2 there in 2020. Why the launch of Fit 3 skipped this area.
Clearly, the economics have changed, and Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Fit 3 will be launching in the United States on January 9th for $59.99. Fans of the Galaxy Fit 2 who don’t like the Galaxy Watch 7’s short lifespan have a new 13-day option with a 1.6-inch AMOLED display that’s 45 percent wider than the Fit 2.
This affordable tracker features a waterproof, square-shaped design with a single button and touch screen controls, without the touch bezel or rounded appearance of most Galaxy watches. It’s also lighter, thinner, and lasts longer than a typical Galaxy Watch, but that trade-off has its limitations: It uses a power-saving RTOS instead of Wear OS that can’t handle apps or messaging.
Unlike the Galaxy Fit 2, the Galaxy Fit 3 doesn’t appear to be compatible with iPhones, though we’re reaching out to Samsung to confirm. Certain features may also be unique to Galaxy phones, such as Find My Phone and remote camera control.
Galaxy Fit 3 also supports notifications from nearby Android phones, fall detection, emergency SOS, Samsung Health Insights and music playback control.

The Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 has more than 100 preset watch faces and as many sports modes. Although it uses your phone’s GPS for outdoor workouts, it still detects your heart rate, arm movement, and height to measure stair climbing.
When it comes to the best fitness trackers in the U.S. today, the Fitbit Charge 6 is expensive and requires a subscription, while Xiaomi bands like the Smart Band 9 have spotty availability, and Amazfit hasn’t sold the Band 7 since it launched in 2022 Get a new bracelet.
While smartwatches are more popular than budget trackers, Samsung must see a gap in the market to target budget wearable buyers who will trust the Samsung brand and appreciate subscription-free health and fitness insights.
