Spaceship role-playing game Everspace 2 unveils first major expansion pack

think you’ve seen it all eternal space 2 Is there a quote? Think again. Developer Rockfish Games has revealed that the stunning space game will be getting a massive new expansion pack next year. The expansion will offer a slew of new star systems, including ones players briefly glimpsed in the main game.

Everspace 2, which left Steam Early Access in 2023, was one of the best games of the year and remains one of the best space games of all time. Despite its success, Rockfish Games isn’t resting on its laurels and is working on creating an absolutely massive expansion pack for the space-based looter shooter and exploration game.

Rockfish has released a trailer for the expansion, along with some information that reveals which new areas of space Everspace 2’s pilots will also be launching into.

One of these systems will be Aethon, which players access in the game’s final mission. However, unlike the main game, they do not roam freely, but are brought back to regular space.

“How do you get to Ayton?” It’s a question that comes up frequently in the official Everspace 2 Steam and Reddit forums, but so far, the answer is simply, you don’t know. Now, Rockfish will give players the opportunity they’ve been craving.

The trailer, which you can watch above, is a dramatic, yet slightly weird, glimpse at the upcoming expansion. In addition to naming Aethon, it also shows various installations, including one that appears to be experiencing serious problems.

You can expect this to be a paid DLC, although Rockfish will no doubt hope it will be more popular than the Titans DLC, which had a rather mixed reception. Rockfish promises more news to come, with a full announcement coming in the new year, including the titles of the upcoming expansions. The trailer confirms it will be released in 2025, so hopefully Rockfish can give us a more specific window as well.
