The Best Face Sunscreens of 2024

Whether your skin is oily or acne-prone, sensitive or dry, there’s a best sunscreen for your face and specific needs – and it might even be on this list. Many of these formulas are from high-end skin care brands and are also available in some drugstores. I’m not talking about you need Go for the more expensive options, but if you do, you’ll usually get a better formula that suits your skin type, feels lightweight, and blends well.

dry skin: Use sunscreen containing moisturizing ingredients such as aloe vera, nicotinamide, hyaluronic acid, coconut water, sunflower oil or various fruit extracts. Sunscreen can be added along with moisturizer or on its own, depending on how dry your skin is.

oily skin: Avoid using any sunscreen that is not oil-free. You don’t want to add to the overall oil. Look for a sunscreen that says “non-comedogenic” on the bottle, which means it won’t clog pores.

Acne-prone skin: If you have oily skin, you may also have acne-prone skin. Likewise, choose a sunscreen that is non-comedogenic, oil-free, fragrance-free, paraben-free and non-irritating.

sensitive skin: Look for a sunscreen with minimal ingredients and most importantly, fragrance-free. It also helps if the sunscreen is dermatologist-tested, oil-free, paraben-free, non-irritating and non-comedogenic.

Whether you use a mineral or chemical sunscreen formula, be sure to use one with broad-spectrum SPF and skin-loving hyaluronic acid to provide the sunscreen protection and breathable skin comfort you need.
