The world’s first 5K2K bendable display brings all the pixels

long story short
- LG released the world’s first 5K2K bendable display.
- The UltraGear OLED bendable gaming monitor features 5,120 x 2,160 resolution and can be transformed into a 900R curved screen.
- The Korean company has yet to reveal pricing or availability details.
We’ve seen a variety of bendable monitors over the years, allowing users to move from flat screens for productivity to curved displays for better immersion in games. Now, LG has unveiled a bendable monitor that’s unlike any other.
LG announced the launch of the UltraGear OLED bendable gaming monitor (model 45GX990A), which it claims is “the world’s first 5K2K resolution bendable OLED monitor.” The Korean brand says it can go from a flat screen to a 900R curved screen in “a matter of seconds.”
The new 45-inch display has a resolution of 5,120 x 2,160 and an aspect ratio of 21:9. Technically, this means you can enjoy 4K content while still having room for multitasking. The screen also uses WOLED technology, which uses white OLED emitters instead of the separate red, blue and green emitters found in traditional OLED panels.
What else should you know about bendable gaming monitors?
Other notable features include the company’s anti-glare and low-reflective coating, as well as improved dual-mode functionality to switch between preset resolution and refresh rate combinations. You also get DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, USB-C with 90W PD support, and NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification.
Not concerned about bendable displays? Then, the LG UltraGear OLED gaming monitor gave up the bending feature in favor of a fixed 800R curved screen. But it’s otherwise identical to a bendable gaming monitor.
There’s no word yet on pricing or availability, but we’re guessing those details will be announced at CES 2025 next week.
