What are we playing this weekend?

Happy New Year to everyone! Let’s make sure that together we start 2025 the right way: that is, by playing games in our free time, leaving no room for anything else. Here’s what we’ve been clicking this weekend!

Brandi
I’m doing a review of a promising RPG, so maybe I’ll stick with that. No, I won’t tell you what it is. You can’t let me. Otherwise, I don’t play much – I have a 400-page book to read for book club by Thursday, and I haven’t done my homework yet.

A long time ago, I got my hands on Persona 5 Royal’s massive DLC, which was a ton of new stuff. Then due to time constraints and general life stuff, I stopped playing. Maybe it’s time to jump back in and end it once and for all.

I recently filmed a big after-school project, so my weekends are now filled with scary possibilities. My plans for this initiative are detailed and extensive. First, I’m going to readjust my computer settings so I can play games without severe back pain. I would then play the games in this order, pausing just to congratulate myself on my military efficiency: Gargle, ZeroRanger, Pig Eat Ball, Ultros, Nine Sols, and Arctic Eggs.

I don’t think I’ll have time to play any video games this weekend with work and the desperation that comes with Manchester United, but if I do find some free time I’ll keep playing asynchronous Dune Empire games and keep gobbling up Raiders of the Lost Ark Place whole lemons.

The ending of the seventh and final Team Fortress 2 comic left me wanting to play more Team Fortress 2. Maybe I’m just not ready to say goodbye.

Jeremy
Jeremy is using time dilation technology to extend his Christmas vacation far beyond the natural realm of reality.

Nick
There are actually too many games to play at once. I’m still enjoying the novelty of Total War Warhammer 3’s latest patch, and I’m also playing Path of Exile 2. Look at the screen to see what’s going on and react accordingly, otherwise you lose. And the Balatro, I just started it around Christmas time but it’s like the Balatro that everyone is talking about. Also the fourth secretly reviewed game. I also want to start Pacific Avenue. My back hurts too.

Ollie
Nic’s tireless reporting on Mechabellum finally came to fruition for me, and I spent most of the holiday playing it on my Steam Deck. I love robots killing each other, that’s probably the best part. Otherwise, I’d introduce my brother to Marvel Rivals and we’d probably enjoy it until we realize we need to find more friends to play with so our randomness doesn’t get us down, and then we’ll take it forever Leave it behind.

But dear reader, what games are you playing this weekend? …
