This water bottle cap is like your own personal SodaStream that you can take with you wherever you go. it sparkles

When the water went into the bottle it was bland and tasted like boring old tap water. It sparkles when it comes out of the water bottle. Not the highly carbonated, almost spicy taste of a fresh can of soda, but a mild fizz, like the kind you get 10 minutes after drinking it. Here’s the fun part: The transformation happens in the bottle, not in a big countertop soda machine.

The Roam SodaTop is like a handheld SodaStream. Hats are where the magic happens. A tight seal and a small CO2 cartridge are key elements in turning boring still water into something more exciting. You can screw the top onto a water bottle that Roam sells itself, or a compatible bottle like the HydroFlask.

Roam expects to begin selling SodaTop directly through its website in the first quarter of 2025 for $50. Each CO2 cartridge is expected to cost approximately 70 cents.

The process is simple. You insert the CO2 canister into the SodaTop’s special lid, releasing the CO2 into the bottle, venting the excess gas inside and drinking. Each filter element is suitable for one liter of water.

Roam says its stainless steel water bottles are designed to keep drinks cold for 24 hours. If you already own a SodaStream, Roam also offers an adapter lid for $13 that lets you carbonate drinks through the countertop machine.

The air is filled with fragrance

The only thing in the bottle that needs to be carbonated is water, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add flavor. If you want something that tastes similar, you can add flavored syrups or other beverage mixes after the carbonation. But Roam is also developing its own ways to add variety.

CEO Sunjay Guleria said the company is developing flavored CO2 cartridges that will contain flavor essences, allowing you to make your own zero-calorie soda using just plain water and cartridges. Think ginger, lemon, yuzu, grapefruit or white peach flavors – natural soda or fresh flavored soda in your own bottle. It’s so refreshing.
