The Best Electric Toothbrushes of 2024

The electric toothbrushes in this section aren’t my favorite, but they do have some great qualities worth mentioning. One of these might be the right choice for you, so it’s worth including them here.
Philips Sonicare Kids Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush
For children 3 years and older, Philips Sonicare Kids Edition As good as Philips’ other Sonicare models. The electric brush has two different modes and brush timers, and comes in two different colors. Plus, each box includes stickers to decorate the handles. It functions very similarly to the Oral-B children’s electric toothbrush, but the brush head vibrates rather than oscillates.
I did notice that the handle is heavier and about an inch longer than the Oral-B Children’s Color Changing Toothbrush. The brush head is a smaller version of the Philips Sonicare Prestige, but is still nearly three times longer than the Oral-B Kid’s brush head. The Sonicare Kids Toothbrush is unique in that it has Bluetooth functionality that connects to a smartphone app. I think this app is one of the best; it has educational videos and a tracking system that parents can use to review their child’s brushing behavior.
Quip electric toothbrush
The Quip brush head is very close in size to a manual toothbrush head. Quip is simple in every way: It has a speed and a two-minute timer that beeps every 30 seconds and turns off when the time is up. That’s it. No app, charger or cord. This electric toothbrush is powered by a AAA battery located in the handle and can last for three months on a charge.
I gave the Colgate Hum the title of “best battery-powered electric toothbrush” over the Quip because I didn’t like the brush head of this toothbrush. Yes, it’s similar to a manual toothbrush, but I find it difficult to reach around my mouth with it. I also noticed that the Quip’s motor isn’t very powerful compared to Sonicare or Oral-B models. To me, it feels like manual cleaning. I don’t like this, but others may not mind. If you’re looking for a smart electric toothbrush that doesn’t include Bluetooth or an app, the Quip might be your choice.
CariPro Electric Toothbrush
The CariPro is a good brush, it just doesn’t compare to the other brushes on this list. The brush head vibrates and the top and bottom of the brush splay outward.
My gums and teeth feel sensitive after using CariPro, but I do tend to experience tooth sensitivity. It’s hard to tell whether this is due to the bristles or the way the brush head flares out. If you have sensitive gums, note that the brush has five settings, one of which is a sensitive setting. There are some benefits to this: I feel like the CariPro does a great job cleaning my mouth.
Y type brush
Y-Brush attracted attention and interest at CES 2017 and returns to CES year after year. This weird Y-shaped brush claims it can brush all your teeth in 10 seconds. When toothpaste is applied directly to the brush, the entire Y-shaped brush enters the mouth. You then have to bite and press the button to activate the gentle vibrations. After five seconds, you can move to the next set of teeth.
I found that not only did the Y-brush not clean my teeth, but the vibrations hurt my head. It was an uncomfortable experience and my teeth were just coated in toothpaste. The concept of this brush is interesting. If you’re tired of regular electric toothbrushes, this might be for you.
Oral-B Pro 500 Precision Cleaning
I compared my experience with the Oral-B Pro 500 Precision Clean brush to other brushes in the same price range. It has a cleaning mode where the brush head oscillates and rotates on a two-minute timer. The brush will remind you when you’re done. This simple Oral-B brush is basic and doesn’t have any special techniques or paired applications.
Of all the Oral-B brushes with a swivel head I’ve tested, this one is my least favorite. It’s not as powerful as other brush heads, and after a few uses, I found myself wondering if I needed a new brush head. I think this brush is perfect for someone testing an electric toothbrush for the first time. It’s simple and very reasonably priced. Personally I would choose the Oral-B Pro 1000, but this Pro 500 is a good budget option.
